What made you decide to be a BankSouth Loan Officer?
Growing up I moved six times within a one-mile radius. This was how my family planned for their retirement. They profited off every home they either bought or built. I learned early on how great an investment real estate can be and how it can change a family’s financial dynamic. This led me to start my career as a loan officer assistant while I was finishing up college.
What accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am self-taught. The loan officer I worked under never showed up for work. I started while I was in college so not only was I studying for school, I was studying the mortgage industry and learning how to become a loan officer by reading regulations, guidelines, and a lot of trial and error. In my second year in the industry, I graduated from the Mortgage Bankers Georgia Future Leaders Program.
Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What do you want to be when you grow up? Why?
I wanted to become a U.S. Marshal. I was a gymnast who learned what mental toughness was at an early age. I enjoyed being pushed to my max and challenged every day to become better. I then sat down and watched the movie U.S. Marshal with my dad which is the exact moment when I said that is what I want to be when I grow up. I think it was the vigorous training Marshals go through that piqued my interest.
What do you enjoy doing on weekends?
Playing golf
Watching my son play sports
Going to the lake or the farm with my family

Christie H. Paulk, an Athens native, attended Oconee County High School and later graduated with her MBA in Business Management from Valdosta State. She has over 15 years of mortgage industry experience in the Athens, Georgia area and has been recognized as a Mortgage Bankers Georgia Future Leaders Program Graduate. Christie’s goal is to provide first-class service and ensure that buying or refinancing your home is an enjoyable experience. She specializes in mortgages for first-time homebuyers, seasoned homeowners, and residential investors. Christie offers expert knowledge on current loan programs as well as new and upcoming products and industry changes. With her extensive background in the real estate and mortgage industry, she is able to consult with her clients and explore their best options. As a first time home buyer, we had a lot of questions, and Christie and her entire team were so helpful! Rather than giving us a rate and just telling us it's the best one, they were transparent about all the different options and let us review each of them and weigh the pros and cons ourselves. They answered every question we had and always got back to us very quickly, which is important in today's market. Christie and Team Paulk were so incredibly helpful and professional from day 1! Christie was always so prompt to respond to my questions, even if it was after hours as our purchase got nearer and there were more time sensitive questions. Christie and her team were amazing. They were quick to answer my questions and make sure I understood everything. There were some bumps in the road due to difficulty with builders, etc and Christie did a wonderful job of explaining changes to me and making sure I understood. I truly believe that Christie and her team did an amazing job in helping make sure my loan process was successful.

Christie and Ryan make a great team. They both are very caring professionals that take a lot of pride in providing excellent service. Due to Covid, everything was handled online that made the transaction extremely simple and stress free. And the main thing....No Surprises at closing. We closed on time and everything matched with our expected closing costs. This was our 7th house closing (yes we move a lot) and by far the easiest!!! Thank you for making our closing STRESS FREE!

Christie went above and beyond the call of duty for me and my family. We were in a very precarious position, as we were moving from out of state. At the last minute, our previous lender failed to do his job and she picked up the pieces and got us a better deal than what we had with the first lender. Even though we had a another agent, lined up she took the time to reach out to me and not pressure us and just give us some more advice and options for what we were facing with the move and buying in a different state. I truly can never thank Christie, for all the kindness and support she provided me and my family. You will not go wrong working with her.

Christie is great to work with! As a first-time homebuyer I had many questions and concerns and Christie answered any question I brought to her and made sure that I understood and was comfortable with each step of the process. I highly recommend Christie! I was completely inexperienced in the home buying process, but Christie tirelessly answered all my questions and did so promptly. In addition, the actual closing costs came out to be quite a bit less than the original estimates, was an extremely pleasant surprise at close. I think Christie will be a great mortgage banker for anyone buying a home in the Athens area. Highly recommend!

Christie kept up with every aspect of my loan; very prompt, great attention to details and was in generally totally a pleasure to work with. Every question I had for her whether it be via a phone call or email she was prompt and always had the answer for me. I don't know of anything that she could have done better. Yes, she thoroughly explained every step of the loan process from beginning to closing.

Christie was awesome start to finish. We were selling/buying and she worked wonderfully with our realtor, our buyers closing attorney and our sellers realtor. She made the process easy and everything went off without a hitch. Christie is incredibly detailed and she certainly under promised and over delivered.

Christie was amazing! She saved the day at the last minute. Our previous lender couldn't care less, wouldn't return calls or emails. Christie got everything done in a short time and we were able to close on time. She was a pleasure to work with, always returned calls and emails quickly and took the time to answer all our questions. I would recommend her to everyone.
